"Keep Calm"... Altered Wooden Letters

If you are looking for the "Where Bloggers Create" post, click here!  There are still a few more days to enter the draw for the giveaway.  Good luck!

As promised.... here is the second set of Altered Wooden Letters that I made for my daughter and son-in-law to display in their new home.  Since moving here from the UK a year ago, they wanted to keep the theme in their family room "British" so I created their "HOME" letters with that in mind.
I used rub-ons to add the year they purchased their first home and 1107 is their house number.

I painted the cute wooden fence and added their last name.
The little bird's nest sitting in the "O" has a lucky horseshoe inside.

I love this UK flag paper and it was the base for all the other papers that I chose to represent the UK theme.  The "Keep Calm & Carry On" ribbon was just the extra touch that the letter needed.

Let's Have A Party & A Giveaway!

Karen at My Desert Cottage is again hosting her "Where Bloggers Create" Party and this is my third year participating.  I love scrolling through everyone's creative spaces and meeting new people.
Head on over to Karen's Blog to see a list of the participating studios.  Grab a coffee, sit back and enjoy the show!
As most of you know, I am fortunate to be able to have two studios in my home.  One for my crafting and the other to run my business Sun 7 Designs.  This year I will be showing you my sewing studio.  This is where I create my custom designed personalized Minkee baby blankets.
I hope you take the time to browse through my photos as I have added a few new things since last year.
My studio is always a work in progress as I am a flea market and garage sale junkie and I'm always finding new and exciting things to fill the room.

I have over 100 spools of ribbon to create my Softie (Baby Taggie) blankets
and I'm always on the look-out for colourful and unique ribbons.
One of my Softie (Taggie) blankets.  They seem to be the "in thing" right now!
16"x10" with 16 sensory interactive tags and a removable teething ring.
I currently have 35 Minkee Dimple Dot fabrics in stock
Baby Cadence loves her new personalized Minkee blanket.
Loving my new turquoise cart from Ikea.
It sits beside my machine that I use to sew the blankets together.
And... holds more fabrics and supplies for my Softies.
This is the inside of my closet and it doesn't always look this tidy!
Entrance to the sewing room.
This cute little basket is a recent garage sale find!
Just a few of the 200+ spools of thread that I use to embroider my blankets.
An extra sewing machine, cause a girl can never have too many machines,
and more fabric storage drawers.
I use this Ikea CD stand to store all my fat quarters for my quilting projects.
Love my doll's pram and this cute little pillow that I purchased in Las Vegas with my favourite quote.
Just a few of the mannequins that I collect.
I recently re-covered that large one in the corner as she was in desperate need of a makeover.
I have won ribbons at the local Calgary Stampede and Spruce Meadows.

I love this printers tray that I purchased at an antique store many years ago.
Love my collection of dress mannequins.
Many thanks to Karen for hosting again this year.  I'm off to check out some other creative spaces.

Thanks for stopping by.  This year I am giving away this package of 5 fat quarters, a canvas journal cover with journal and these cute sewing themed buttons.  All you have to do is become a follower of my Blog and/or "like" my Facebook Page.  Leave me a comment and your name will be entered into the draw twice.
Some of you may know that I live in Calgary, AB where the devastating floods occurred just last month, so for the month of July I am donating $5 from each order to the Canadian Red Cross Disaster Flood Relief.  As of today's date I have raised $85.  Thank you to those of you who have placed orders and supported such a great cause.  If you would like to order your own custom designed personalized baby blanket please check out my website at www.sun7designs.com or send an email to sun7designs@shaw.ca.  Many thanks!

The Pink Scarf Project

While strolling through blogland one evening, I came across this beautiful blog and this wonderful post "The Pink Scarf Project".
This is a year-long project running from October 2012 and ending on October 1, 2013 in honour of Breast Cancer awareness.
The rules are simple.... make or purchase a pink scarf and send it to:
"Pink Scarf Project"
311 West Main Street
Grayson, Ky 41143
This October the scarfs will be donated to women who are braving their own battle against breast cancer.
This is the minkee cuddle infinity scarf that I made.
Of course I made it from beautiful soft minkee fabric....
I cut a piece of "bubblegum" coloured minkee 60"x17"
Folded it in half lengthwise and sewed the long end together.

Turn it right sides out.
Laying it flat on the table, with your seam in the centre....
Twist it approximately 8 times and then stitch the short ends closed.

I added a simple organza flower with a little bling in the centre.....
'cause every girl deserves some *BLING*!
It's fast.... it's simple and it makes a warm cuddly scarf.  Try making one for yourself... these are so simple to make.  Only took me 10 minutes and now it's on the way to Vicki at "2 Bags Full".
