Something Old, Something New...

This tradition comes from an Old English rhyme ("Something Olde, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, & A Sixpence in your Shoe"), and the four objects that the bride adds to her wedding outfit or carries with her on the big day are just good luck charms.
Something old represents continuity; something new offers optimism for the future; something borrowed symbolizes borrowed happiness and something blue stands for purity, love, and fidelity.

These are the four items that my daughter carried with her on her wedding day.

Something Old:  Her engagement ring belonged to her future husband's Grandmother.

Something New: The beautiful pearl and diamond jewelry received as a gift from her Grandmother.

Something Borrowed: She borrowed the pearl and diamond headband from a good friend of ours.

Something Blue: I made her a garter from the lace from my wedding dress and attached a blue ribbon.

And here is the layout I created for her Wedding Scrapbook.
